Circular holes are one of the most used types of holes in 3d modeling.
In this short tutorial, we will create a circular hole that has eight edges (octagon).
1. To get started, create a quad polygon;
2. Add two support edges;
3. Add two perpendicular edges, crossing through the center;
4. Select a central vortex and use “Chamfer”;
5. Use “Connect” to add two perpendicular edges in the square;
6. Select a central octagon and use “Circularize” or “Spherify”;
7. Connect edges around the octagon with the corners;
8. Delete a central face to get a hole;
9. Add support edges for the correct subdivision.
This way we created a circular hole that gives a smooth topology after subdivision.
